Shock Knock on BC Racing Coilovers

Can BC's suffer shock knock the same as OEM shocks?

I've had an annoying knock on mine since I bought them, but just lived with it. Confirmed it is the shock as swapped the rears around and the noise moved with the shock.

I emailed BC UK to see if they offer a service for shocks but had no reply. Any ideas?

I'd suggest that you fork out for new ones and give the knocking ones to me, but that's not very helpful..

Surely your only option is to send them back to the manufacturers and ask for replacements?

Forgot to mention, I purchased them second hand, to refund/replacement is not an option.

Are you sure it isnt a bushing or a balljoint that is knocking rather than a new set of shocks?

thats what i would have suggested checking but if its moved sides when you swapped the shocks then its unlikely

Im guessing but sure you would have checked the spring for any damage - if its progressive wound spring then could be the coils knocking together - you could try swapping another spring onto the faulty shock and see if that helps or get one of these spring assisters.
there must be someone out there that can refurb the shock for a reasonable amount.

I know a guy with a type s and bought his brand new, I can't remember if both or just one of the rears knocked but you could jack up the rear and pick up one wheel and feel a positive sort of space in the shock that did nothing.

Did the same test on my d2's and nothing at all. I think bc will just sell you a new insert without springs etc, I haven't seen any companies doin rebuild yet.

Yes, it moved sides with the shock so is unlikely to be bush/joint related.

As said this has done it from the day I put them on (they were second hand and used), I didn't check thoroughly the springs before I put them on, but would've noticed something major wrong. It's also been through 3 MOTs and 2 trips to PAW and nothing has been noted about the springs.

Also, it's definitely a knocking sound, rather than a "clang" I'd imagine you'd get from a spring.
