215 is bang on for 7.5" wheels. Maybe 225's for 8"?

@bb1boy: 215/40 is a bit of a low profile for the suspension to keep up. Your 'edge of the road' will be a bit closer than it would have otherwise been and your ride will be a little harder.

Thanks for all the input people 8-)

I was wondering if the wider 8J / 8.5J wheels needed 225s? Thought that the 215s would be stretched??

Definitely sticking to the 45 sidewall. My old 18s had 35 profile and it was pretty much undriveable!

I have found that the suspension only just copes with the 45 profile. ( I run eibach lowering springs) or perhaps a set of coilovers might sort this?

Depends on the compound. Some tyres have broader shoulders.

This is 215/45/17 Yokjizzzma AD08 on a 8" wide rim. Practically no stretch.

I like the look of a 215/40 and that my speedo is as close as possible to being accurate. I agree that the ride can be a bit harsh, but I mostly put that down to the sh!t state of the roads which are so covered in potholes and speed bumps that you have to drive slow and steady anyway... they are fine on the dual carriageway/motorways which are generally in better condition.

I have run 215/40s on all 6 of my Preludes.

Maybe I should have a ride in someone's car that is running the 45 profile tyres at the national meet.

Good afternoon everyone, so today I finished putting on a NON SH Shock and lowering spring (1.25") into my 98 Prelude SH thinking it would lower the SH model more as EVERYONE is saying they are different. I also stuck my 18" rims on, running a 215/35/18 tire. (Rim is 7.5" wide) here is my finished product

Enjoy. ^.^
