the sparky told me today, the honda guys were at his shop with their scanner, they plugged it into the 3 port plug (not the 2 port i use to jump and get the error code 74)
they said there were only 2 wires coming from the port,so it wouldn't talk to the scanner
funny thing is, he has been there before, and the scanner worked well enough for them to tell me i had a faulty oxygen sensor in my exhaust

Have you got any other experienced lude owners anywhere near you? (Is there an aussie lude forum, or did I imagine that?)

I think the next step might be looking at the car with someone else that really knows them. Not sure what else to suggest over the forum tbh. This shouldn't be a complex fault to find I wouldn't think, probably just needs someone that really knows how the car is put together, they'd know where something is that a regular auto sparky wouldn't (and therefore might not check).

It seems the general consensus now is that when I went over the pothole it has jarred something loose,or a bit of solder has come off in the ECU
according to Honda it's the most likely cause of everything, plus the fact their sensors can no longer talk to him

I have found a replacement ECU at a wreckers for $300

thanks for all your help with this, it is very much appreciated

Good luck man, hope that is the fix you need!

$300??! DAMN! ...how much is postage from UK? People sell ECU's for around £30 all day long over here.
