If it was me. It's rebuild it but go sleeved block and forged pistons to eliminate the h22 weak point. Swiss cheese rings.

How many miles is that per month and what viscosity oil are you using?

James - Yours had a cylinder head overhaul not a full rebuild...quite different
Nobody can promise 100% no oil burning without going down the route of oversizing with new pistons, rings and valve guides (not seals) but if Sam is using 1.5lts a month (per 800 miles) then it can certainly be dramatically improved with a full refresh.
Ratty - H22 rings are not a weak point in the slightest - remember we are generally talking about engines these days that have well over 100k on them that have been revved hard for many of those miles. Things wear, more so if not looked after correctly from day one and if I'm honest, the majority of H22s I see these days have strong evidence to suggest that they have not had regular oil changes or indeed have had decent oil used.
Sam - It's your call, if you want it rebuilt we'll book it in (about to reply to your PM), if not, no worries

Ratty you sexy muffin. Just run 9psi on your supercharger. Your rings won't sting.
