Wow that's wicked. Yes mate have alternator and pas pump brackets, dipstick tube, radiator brackets and various other brackets and bolts in there now soaking.
I did my radiator brackets the other night. They were submerged for about 5-6 hours, guess I need to soak them for much much longer

Yes, I've found 24-48 hours depending on the scale of the rust (even up to a week for some stuff!), mechanically remove as much rust as you can before starting and using boiling water significantly speeds up the process.

Moving back to the topic, does that rubber trim of yours have any identifying marks on it anywhere? I want one!

Oh wow really lol that's a long time ha. Well I'll check them tomorrow see what going on.

I don't think so mate I'll double check tomorrow. It's a great seal. My channels on the inside of it are like when they came out of the factory :D

4th gens only have the plastic trim.
That rubber trim is not original spec. Maybe off a 5th gen??? Dunno, anyway it's not oem.

Do that rust while the screen is out and do a proper job on it, otherwise you're as well doing nothing at all, TbH - it'll just come back and quickly...

One this Greeny is, when it comes to cars, is thorough. I trust he'll make it right for me :)
