I would seriously only use a genuine tensioner. It is NOT worth the risk of it failing. But it is entirely up to you chap :)

I put a £36 pump in my track car, still ok but only done 500 or so miles so far :?

Honda OEM. Pricey at over £100 but more than worth it IMO. Vanzep and I have compared the impellers of cheapo and OEM water pumps and the OEM was much nicer.
