I agree with Merlin. As mentioned in my earlier post I have tried every combination of disk and pad and it has cost me a lot of money over the years. My conclusion after 12 years of tracking my 'lude is that the pad needs to be harder than disk so that the disk wears rather than the pad. My logic is that if the pad is softer than the disk then although the pad wears it absorbs the heat so the minute you stop the heat built up in the pad has to go somewhere. And yes the only two places it can go is into the disk or into the caliper. So either your disk warps because the red hot pads will transfer their heat into the disk (this is why a slow down lap is so important) or your fluid boils (because your calipers gets very, very hot).
Now if the pad is harder than the disk than the disks will wear slightly more than the pads. Again the warm down lap is very important but have you ever heard of warped pads? Forget slotted, dimpled or bigger disks, just give using a better quality pad a try. (Hawk HP+, Ferodo or Yellow stuff). You only need them on the front, but don't forget you will also need braided lines and racing fluid.
Colin (just about to scrap my 'lude and I'm very sad about it)
