AAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats not how you use ebay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

please only ever bid in the last few seconds. to bid AT ANY OTHER POINT just costs you or the eventual buyer more money!!!!!!!!

Damn it, I cant tell you how frustrating it is as a buyer to have people just putting random bids in all the way through. IT JUST PUSHES THE PRICE UP!

play it thus:

Find an item.
watch it.
decide how much its worth to you.
Put that figure, plus 79p, into the bid at 10 seconds before auction end.
Rejoice!!! or commiserate.

Anything else is like putting items in your basket in tesco and dropping coins onto them as you go round. All the coins fall through the basket and you still have to pay for it at the end. Pointless.

its the only way. being on a rural connection means i have to play it a little safer at 10-7 seconds or face the very real probability that my bid will hit late.

If I was on Virgin or something fast it would be 2second dash all the way.

It's a bummer though when you find a bargain that nobody has bid on, or on minimum bid. You leave it to the last moment but miss out because there is no phone signal or internet connection.

Sometimes, only sometimes, an early bid can bring fortune.

I do agree there are times when I lost items because I was forgetful etc but...........Putting one bid onto a quiet item lets the seller know there is an interested party. There are many sellers who will then shill the item up to cut your bargain in half. If you stay in the shallows and only strike when the prey comes to drink you get dinner more often than not. Letting other crocs and deer know you are there is like sweating in a playground. Not a good idea.

If you cant be there to buy it then you dont want it enough  I have cursed myself for this many times but thems the breaks.

also ebayassasin type aps are available. a bit cheeky but still plays by better rules than putting in loads of random bids that just push the price up.

I pay my rent from audio forums and ebay most months so this is close to my heart

I've used gixen for a very long time. I think it let me down once, and that was because i didn't give it enough time.
TBH, I mostly use it when stuff ends at silly o clock, otherwise I'll just whack my max bid in in the last 10 secs.

Interesting.

What's a sniping program? Is it something that warns you when it's close to the end? I thought ebay itself could do that.

its a program that sits there with your cash when you cant. like a mate waiting in line for you.

They put in your bid at the last moment and hopefully win for you.

The amount of times iv seen good items go for silly high cash just because a load of noobs are bidding on it for days leading upto it.

here is a prime example

fuksake

8 bids with 4 days to go? WHAT THE FUNK??? that should have 9 watchers and no bids. end of. so far that item is going to cost £72 more than it needs to. drives me up the wall
