
A triangle pond in a triangle garden - too much!
If I was going to relocate it it would be to where the greenhouse is, but that's just me. Plus the more out of the way it is the less likely your kids are to fall in it probably
Ideally you'd want the new pond prepped fully (as in settled and all that) you don't want to fill it with water and all the other gubbins and straight away dump the wildlife in there, but then you'd have two ponds on the go and for the new set up to properly settle will take a few weeks.
As I said before smooth newts are not habitat protected so really you can just turf them out.
