No idea tbh ? need some of the technical nuts to answer this

it still hasnt been reset since i got the exhaust and that fitted

is it just a case of disconnecting the battery ?

Yes it is.
But it wont help. Proper tuning is required.

So for the MOT the car needs the rear brakes done and a tyre. They're also sorting the idle problem so get it back in a few days
