You will be fine with the blasted cover. Just sand it back a little and really really clean it and degrease it. Karcher pressure etc etc
I dont blast mine now though.
Want a good paint stripper.
Starchem Synstryp is what you need. Internet only. Be careful. I burn the skin immeadiately. Really burns and will strip skin.

mine was sandblasted around 2 years ago. I just clean it and engine is still fine. But TBH I wouldn't try this again as cleaning was really pain of arse.
So if you put a bit of effort in cleaning then you will be fine.
