help on steering please.

Are track cars steering has about 3 inch of movement left and right before it starts to turn the wheels. Does anyone no why or how we could tighten it back up? Ps we have removed the power steering if that has anything to do with it

The test would be to jack up the car and have someone slowly turn the wheels. Put resistance on the steering wheel and see how far they can turn the wheels without the steering wheel turning. It's hard to tell when the car is on the ground.

Other check your rod end joints and hope it's not your rack. It could also be your upper and lower ball joints.

If the poer steering gone with out upgrading the rack... my guess you habe stripped some teeth...

The racks are pretty robust. Plus if you'd stripped teeth, firstly you'd hear it, and secondly, you wouldn't have play, you'd just not be able to turn.

The car was jacked up at the front with the wheels off when I checked to see how far the steering wheel tured untill the hub started to

Can you feel any play in the ball joints if you tug on the wheels?

that's a lot chap. Check the UJ on the steering column.

Check the manual, there's a procedure to tighten the guide inside the rack which can be easily checked with the rack in situ, could be part of the problem.
