Didn't get as much as I planned done on this one this weekend.

Some shiny new bits checked out side/side to make sure they're ok.

Good job I didn't chuck the old intercooler and rad away first, need to swap over this lot;

Look ahead to next weekend, this is some of the other stuff I have to contend with at the back of the car;

I never thought you'd have parts availability issues for 90's cars just yet. This sucks man :(

Yep, tell me about it. It's bloody ridiculous :cry:

It's not an Activa only part either - it's used on some of the other models.
Xantia's are hardly a rare car, there's drokking loads of them sold all over the world (1.2mil).
They were even still building Xantia's in Iran until 2010 ffs!

This is not good...

There must be people out there who make bespoke hoses? Otherwise could you do something with off the shelf parts? Do you have a picture of the complete hose assembly you're looking to replace? Would you like a fourth question?

Yeah, you can get custom silicone hoses made up, but it's not necessarily cheap.

I've started messaging a few suppliers now - my main concern is that these have a quick-connect bayonet fitting on one end, so I'm not sure how many/if any suppliers will be able to make that :?

If I'm going custom made, I'll have to see what interest I can drum up on FCF for a group buy, otherwise this will work out mega expensive!!! :x

Posted up about a group buy on FCF. Let's see what happens.

First response from a manufacturer isn't good though!
Hello,
Thank you for your email,

The replicate this hose would involve a costly mould about £400 and a very bare minim of 50 pieces to make it viable.

We can machine the bayonets, but this is CNC machined and only viable for at least 100+ pieces.

Sorry we cannot help
The tooling costs could be stomached in a group buy, but 50 off hoses and 100 off bayonets is well out of what I expect can be achieved! :?

At the risk of being really really silly, what are the radiator dimensions? Could you fit something with standard hose connectors in the same place? Should be easier to make up some brackets, then creating a hose from off the shelf hose bits becomes viable?

Possibly. I'd much rather keep it standard though, plus I'd already ordered the rad before I found out the hose was drokked, so that'd be a hundred quid or so down the bog to offset against the cost of a custom hose...

Sorry for being lazy and not looking back a few pages so I can see the hose, but... :lol:

Could you not remove all of the rubber hose from the existing quick release fitting so you just have the metal part. Then get a metal fabricator to weld a section of metal tube into the inner diameter of the fitting so that it protrudes out the back. Then you could clamp a hose on to this section of tube?

Apologies in advance if this is a jobby idea :lol:
