I think it's the other way around, but a similar outcome, the valves are open by default and if removed the valves remain open, which will hurt low air flow and torque.

you can remove the IAB vaccum tank/box if your taking the intake resonator out

No, it sits under the intake manifold.

You only tend to know of it when you remove the intake manifold, and accidentally break it.
