knocking/rattle from rear.

Oh, that pic is when it's jacked up? I didn't read it properly...

Mine looks like that when it's at normal ride height

When the arse is jacked up, the suspension arm is fully sitting on the exhaust and stretching down on the rubber exhaust hangers

Even so, over bumps, the arm also goes up/down and the exhaust bounces up/down as well, so it might still be that on Bludges?

Its still possible. Just cut up some old cambelt, fold it up and pack the exhaust rubber out some

Right, nothing i did helped the knocking. exhaust is well clear of the arm and the knocking happens even on slightly uneven road, nowhere near enough bounce for the exhaust to touch the arm.

Its starting to sound like more of a rattle, and im adament its coming from the wheel arches somewhere. the plastic trim inside the arch on the passenger side is a bit loose, but the other side seems tight, and the noise is coming from both sides (although seems worse on the passenger side).

I had the boot fully stripped out when i took it drag racing the other day and it was still just as noisy, so its not any of the trim inside and its not the spare wheel.

Im gonna recheck the bolts inside the car that connect the shock as i havent done that this time round, but im pretty sure they are tight. so other then the degraded bushes on the arms and the balljoints on the wishbones im all out of ideas.

Only other thought i had was the tyres on the new wheels are a lot lower profile, could that and it being a different wheel just mean they are noisy on rough road? cause the noise seems to be when the car hits something with an edge like a pothole or manhole cover, and not really when you hit a speedbump.
*edit* also no matter how hard i try i cant recreate the noise by bouncing or rocking the car when its stationary.

Gonna stick my old wheels on the back soon and see if it makes any difference.

Also, in relation to the worn bushes possibly allowing for back and forth movement of the arm over the bushing, would that not cause my tracking to go severly out on the rear end if its moving that much?

get car on ramps and let someone look at it properly, good mechanic will spot problem quick

Had it on ramps and nothing other then what i pointed out could be seen.
The mechanic siad he couldnt see anything wrong either.

Although i cant vouch for him being "good". lol.
