think I may have bitten off more than I can chew

As you may know I had a power steering leak a few weeks ago. The leak came back but closer to the res so I paid honda for a new return line as there was no chance of cutting this one out. It took me 6 hrs to get the line off eventuslly by cutting it in two. The problem is I have noidea how to get the new line in

I ve taken off the bumper, headlight, power steering belt but cant get the angle to get the pipe under the engine mount. I fear you may have to take off this mount. If so I'm screwed.

Any one any ideas on how you feed this line through to the rack?

The engine should sit on three mounts. Whap a jack underneath and unbolt the snot out of it? Crap job but the only way I'd think

Yep, as indigo says. Mount off, support the engine on a jack (with block of wood under it) while you take the mount out and it should all be golden.

The cars on ramps on my drive just now which slopes so that the passengers tire is higher than the drivers (as well as sloping up). It's a tarmac drive. Now I have a bottle jack (1.5T) I could use to support the engine. Is it just a case of putting a block of wood under the centre of the sump and jacking there till the wood is tight to the sump? I take it we are talking about a piece of 4 by 2 for the wood?
I've never take out an engine mount is it just a matter of removing the 4 bolts lifting out the mount or is something else involved?

One last question my fuel leak has returned which I noticed when putting the car on the ramps (the petrol and the power steering fluid are making a fooking mess of the drive). When pushing the rubber hose on how far past the pipe stop would you go or would you only take it up to the pipe stop and clamp it there?

Yeah, just a bit of 4x2 will be fine. Rather than jacking it centrally, try and put the jack as close as possible underneath the mount that you're removing (I'm assuming it's the gearbox one you're talking about? If so, put the jack under the gearbox). You just need to jack it till it just starts to lift the engine slightly, so it takes the weight off that mount, don't jack too far or you'll jam the bolts in the mount and make life difficult for yourself and also risk damaging the bottom of the engine/box.

It is not the gearbox side, it is the one next to the power steering pump and alternator above the crank shaft pulley. Just wondering where would be suitable, I am already in a bit of a hole just don't want to keep digging!

Given the other three mounts will still be taking some weight, I'd jack under the sump myself. Just use something to spread the force.

Yep (sorry it's what comes from working on my Xantia yesterday instead of the lude - gearbox on the opposite side!

) as indigo says, jack on that side of the engine under the sump will be fine. Just follow my other comments about how much to jack it, etc.

You can remove the cambelt engine mount without supporting the engine, the other 3 will hold it in place just fine. But a jack on the edge of the sump will give you some nice cover (just in case).
