Another Track 4th gen - More engine work done

Post by Thebusofwoe » Sun Mar 09, 2014 9:20 pm

Hi again guys.

Got some more done today but unfortunately went home pissed off :x :x.

So got some seals changed, cleaned up the engine a bit and drunk loads of coffee
Right some more pictures. All boring stuff but hey, I don't care

So started off with changing this little fecker.

For this . . .

Changed the vtec solenoid gasket/filter in the process. The old one was rock hard. . .

Then temp fitted the rocker cover, dizzy and leads ready for a clean. Removed the engine wiring harness and then J1ZZED all over it    . . . . . .

Got the jet washer out and half an hour of getting royally fecked off and wet, I get this . . . . 8-) 8-)

Then on to replacing the oil cooler seal, and the oil pump pressure release valve assy. . . .

The old valve assy. .

Replaced with a new set, Just in case. . . . .

8-) 8-)

I then noticed whilst looking around that up inside the oil pickup was a black, hard substance, stuck to the gauze. I couldn't get any pics as my phone died, but it chipped away. So I have had to remove the picup too.
I did also get the balancer shaft gear timed up and that sealed on. Got the thermostat replaced at the same time.

So the bit that pissed me off. Well in order to remove the wiring harness from the back of the motor, the big manifold bracket had to come off. The lower bolt came out real nice. The upper bolt not so. Went about two turns then snapped clean off. So now I have to spend more time, that I don't really have, drilling that out, tap it and replace the bolt. :x

Well that's about it for now.

Thanks chaps :) :)

First time I've seen this build mate! I didn't realise you were getting so involved :D

Great work 8) And good job you spotted the oil pick up. Last thing you want is a blocked pick up!

Thank matey :D I wana try and do it right first time :). Yea I wish I could of got pics, but I would say 20% of the gauze was clogged up with that stuff!! Just means more down time as I now need to order a new picup gasket, that's even if its still available :? :? :)

Coming along 8-)

Do you still have the alarm btw? I have the same Hamilton and palmer one in mine, might need a few bits like siren and sensors if you still have them?
