The Damascus steel is extremely high quality and tears through training poles with ease giving a clean sharp cut.
Don't confuse this sword with the cheap highlander style swords.
The sets of 3 are generally naff quality as the battle ready ones were only made in Katana. I have a few sets of the cheap ones and they are naff.
This particular sword got outstanding reviews on several sword forums. I checked before purchase. It's well balanced and easy to manoeuvre. You can actually see the fold in the steel due to the way Damascus Steel is hammered and tempered.

@p_bryant: For sure buddy. The ones I have are a different type to the highlander, just of the same style. the blades are 440 unfortunatly but the hilts are wonderfully detailed. The missis hates them. all of them.. It would be the resin hilt that would worry me for cutting practice with the highlanger. Is it full tang and how are the scales attached? If yes and very well then go for it but I'v seen some pretty scary ''sword flew out of the hilt and helecoptered across the garden'' vids to be anything but careful with tang and grips.
I really cant wait to get to the medieval festival. See and buy a ''real'' b@stard sword. Some of the stuff they have there is luminous.
When it comes to steel im all about the 1095 hardened or 5190 spring steel. I found a wicked site but am unsure if its real or fake...

yeah thats the one. They look great for the money and the forum chatter is generally positive but the site is new and there is only one reviewer and he hates them. That they have not noticed this and taken it down is also suspect.
I have a jap crowbar on the way though so something European next for sure.
This is the hanwei muffin sword after a sharpen and a polish.....want this or better.
