Swap 94 analogue dash for digital 96

Does anyone know how easy a swap of a pre digital 94 dash to a digital post 94 digital dash would be? Would I require anything from the 96 I.e wiring etc?

Timely...
I started writing a post yesterday about doing this.
I finally plucked up the enthusiasm to start doing this on mine on Sunday afternoon - UKDM EL dials into UKDM non-EL pre-facelift car.
Result? Car is still in bits and undriveable



I'll do a full post later on when I have time (with pics) but unfortunately, that guide bears no relation to what I found.
- Firstly, there is no 'grey' connector anywhere, they are green and yellow.
Secondly, reading that guide suggests there is little difference between the pre/post facelist looms. Unfortunately there seem to be quite a lot! (both in terms of number of wires per connector, pin outs and not forgetting that one connector is on a completely different side of the binnacle!)
Thirdly, that guide suggests there is an extra earth on one side but less wires on the other side. Unfortunately that's not what I found - there are 3 more wires in total on the el dials in comparison to pre-facelift.

Obviously it can all be sorted, but I haven't looked into the detail yet to work out how to make that happen. Fun for this weekend...

When I did mine I went from JDM auto to UKDM Manual EL's, probably the biggest difference.
My approach was to take the wiring diagrams from each model's service manual and work out which wire needed to go where, as Wurly says, part of the loom needs extending, as well as the wires within each connector may need rejigging regarding their position. The wire colours change between models which is why you need the wiring diagrams.
Also a wire needs to be added from the (time) clock to the clocks for the odometer.
This is all from meneory as I did it about 7 years ago!

At least I have plenty of bits to have a play with - I think I have 2 sets of UKDM EL dials (1 with pigtails), 2 sets of JDM EL dials and 1 complete dash loom from a JDM car


And the best part? After I've done it on my UKDM, I get the opportunity to do it all again but with slight variation, on Lisa's JDM!

Ok yes mine is ukdm and I'm going to try and pick up a digital ukdm one too, I've got all the wiring diagrams so I should be ok....but I'm no auto electrician. I make kitchens for a living.
