mystery leak
Post by c_doughty1 » Fri Feb 07, 2014 5:40 pm
when it rains I have an interior leak. it comes through the roof lining behind the drivers seat the plastic section that clips off and runs in to top corner of the rear drivers side window. I'm getting annoyed as I can't locate the source of this leak with a watering can stood on the road, neighbors thinking that I've gone mental and that I think my Honda is a plant. but unless it rains it doesn't leak. with the watering can I get nothing. I'm really confused. Could it be bad condensation?

I had to do that. Mine would collect the water on top of the roof panel (which has some plastic grids on it) build up a nice puddle, then when I drove off the water would pour in either side onto the back seats...

Traced mine to the join for the sunroof drain where the metal meets the pipe. It had rusted badly. Liberal smoothing of silicone on and around the join stopped it straight away. Worth a try.
Come join my stupid nonsense crusade. It's like a cult, but more pointless.

Be careful with the washer nozzle, easy to bend the roof. Disconnecting/re-connecting the pip is a complete arse too, because it's not long enough to pull out the roof (that would make it easy!) and access to it from inside is nasty (just out of reach).
You say your rear washer is blocked, does it ever work, or constantly seem blocked?
They're a nightmare to sort out reliably tbh, because the entire length of pipe through the car gets slime built up on the inside walls because there's so much washer fluid sat in it for so long. Took me hours to get it clean on Lisa's lude last year. TBH, It would have been quicker to cut it back and put new in (didn't know that before I started!).
