I did nearly 400 miles on Saturday in my lude, basically all dual carriageway/stuff, including the muffin long A14 average speed camera section and crap M11 overtaking lorries causing tailbacks
There was
on all sliproads/roundabouts etc and cruise control involved, so I got 28mpg and that's the most I ever expect to get out of a vtec lude.
And that's with 95 ron as always...

Super Secret 1G (not really super secret!)
Yes, 28 mpg seems like the best a 2.2 Lude can do.. carriageways and staying away from vtec can improve it, but the best I've ever done is around 32mpg on 53l of 95 ron. (it's an automatic)
And as contrast the worst I've had is under 14mpg on 54l of 95 ron.
It is really your right foot that decides how your mpg turns out
