you need to clean out rh dirt and salf from the metal parts or they will corrode and then damage the poly bush. If you dont give them a good hard wash and then spray or apply a grease of some kind you will shorten the life of the poly by loads. A good hard pressure wash and douse with spray grease is the minimum . removing them and washing them all individual and then regreasing is the best but longest way. if you dont do basic maintenance you might as well not have bothered imho.

I too believe they require maintenance. When I brought my CRX years ago it had knocking front arms. I thought it was the ball joints as the usual suspect, but when I took the arms out it was in fact the poly bush tubes had corroded and the bush it self had worn oval . So yea, they will need cleaning/greasing every now and then. My lude will be fully poly bushed and I will be doing bush maintenance on that when needed ;) :D

(make jokes at will  ) :guns:

yeah, its the corrosion that gives them the oval wear pattern. as it moves it rubs a little bit more on one side. Its a shame they dont make them out of stainless but i suppose there has to be some product destruction built in or they would soon shut down...lol

Thanks for the info.

I will need to remove the bumper to remove the front lip this weekend so might as well give it a good clean underneath and then silicone spray them bushes.

This is the inserts that you re-use from your original bushes, right?

Might see about getting a length of stainless tube the right diameter before I do mine, so I can be  in future years... 8-)

 reuse the inserts? not with the energy suspension kits I bought. They come with sets of galvi steel inserts. I would have thought if you reused the old steel you would kill your poly fast as drokk. How would you even get them clean enough to put in there? All poly bushes come with the inswerts dont they?
The steel inserts that are part of the kit will begin the corrode if not cared for. that corrosion will then abrade the polybush from the inside. To really keep a car thats been poly'd in good nick you need to loosen all the supporting nuts and scrub them out if you can. Anything you do but leave them will porolong the life of them.

Its a serious modification so serious mantenance needs considering imho. People think nothing of changing the oil every 3000 miles but.........

Don't know, not looked at it properly. Only glanced over the info quickly in threads before really and the same for looking through the kit  Would read about it properly before I actually do the job, just thought that was what I'd read...

As you say, if stuff needs maintenance, then it needs maintenance. But if you can modify the need to maintain out, that's all good also! ;) Especially when it involves suspension stuff
