Tensioner (if replaced with a standard auto one) is about £100, around the same again for the belt + rollers though Id have to check my receipts.
Double check how much this guy is going to want first, but it sounds like around £400 if I had to go on the prices that I was charged to have my done by my independant. (Though you hopefully won't have to see any kidneys!)

Oh cack, I did think it sounded too good
Hope it's not too expensive.

Sorry to hear that LL. Horrible to have your worst fears put to rest, only to have them come back and bite you in the ass
Lings Honda lists the hydraulic tensioner at £115.22 +VAT (so £138.26).

So you know LL, that kit Phil posted above is the tensioner from the 2.3i non-Vtec, which a number of us with Vtec's (looking for more power) use as it can't really fail/slip, unlike the standard Vtec hydraulic tensioner, which obviously can. You basically tension up the belt and lock it off.
The only down side to it is that once the belt has stretched slightly the tension will obviously lessen and so you need to get the manual tensioner re-tensioned, but that won't incur anywhere near the cost of replacing a new belt. At the same time you could ask are you going to have the car long enough for a brand new hydraulic tensioner that retensions itself to fail again?

You might also ask the garage to look at the crankshaft pulley as the harmonic damper (Rubber that sperates the two pulleys) is prone to failure. When I first got my 5g I put it in for a timing & balancer belt change. End up with this plus the crankshaft pulley and the auto tensior. Was a bill of £400 +
When I looked at the pulley you could push the two pulleys on it apart, the rubber was that perished. Garage never noticed till they had done the timing belt and had a look at the pulley running, it was wobbling!
If that had failed at speed..........
It was a painful bill but better safe than sorry.
