Cheers man. Will get the ignition circuit built tomorrow, along with fitting the front arches (weather dependant) and then taking it for a drive. Got a couple of holes to patch up but that'll just be a bit of metal cut out of an old hood or wing and welded on.

2 window doors fitted

Post by Crazy_C » Sun Jan 19, 2014 12:02 am

Got the charging circuit wired in, throttle cable shortened and hooked up, and got my 2 window doors on there as well now. It looks a bit worse for wear with all the different colours on there at the moment, but that'll all get sorted in time

I am getting a bit lost here. Why are you taking of perfectly good older doors with no quarter lights and putting the others on?
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

the one piece window is a cal look thing paul they are not older the quarter light is the original and I would assume fits the look of an older volks rod better than the one piece windows

Paul, Merc is spot on. The bug originally had a cal look which I'm not a fan of. Volksrods are meant to look as old as possible and the older 2 window doors suit the look perfectly. The fact they're a bit beat up just makes it better for the rat look.

MOT'd & On The Road!!!

Post by Crazy_C » Wed Jan 29, 2014 11:54 pm

Well the Hummock is now MOT'd and on the road!! Yay!!

First drive back home from my mate's yard, and the bloody thing ran out of electricity, turns out the dynamo was shot, so chucked a new one on there, and it's spot on.

Going to give it it's first proper run tomorrow going to work in it, see how the front fenders hold up, as they're not exactly, erm, sturdy. Chances are quite high that I'll just pull the arches off and go to work archless, and if I get a tug, I'll just say I'd taken them off to do some work and forgot to refit them :P

This is how the Hummock currently sits anyways:
