Fitting of chips

Post by GreenyUK » Wed Jan 15, 2014 8:16 pm

Evening folks.

I'm hoping some one knows of a good trusted place in or around bristol that is capable of fitting a spoon chip and socket set to my Ecu.

My soldering skills are not quite that good it's all abit small and fiddly for me so need to find some where to do it :D

@bluejackhustler seems to be the guy to chat to :)

Although I don't know where he's located so if it needs posting off you may be without a car for a few days.

Thanks Donald. I'm in North Shropshire so miles away.

I can do this for you though. Drop me a Pm if you like.

Andy.

Ah right cool I didn't realise he was up the road. I knew he did the chips now, actually he was going to look to see if he could turn the knock sensor off within his programming magic lol but never got back to me on my other thread.

I didn't know he fitted them also? :)

Well I don't think he offers an advertised fitting service, but he may be able to help.

Ok well we shall see. I can always just post it to bluejackhustler :)

Would be good though if the knock sensor can be turned off. I'd get that done first

You have a UK car with a JDM engine yeah? What ECU do you currently have? Why is your ECU throwing a knock sensor CEL?

I dont think you can turn off the knock sensor with the chips. My old Spoon ECU couldn't turn off the knock sensor, and that ECU is what the chip are a copy of.

Hello guys!

Right, where to start...

Firstly, sincere apologies to GreenyUK - I didn't get back to your other thread about the knock sensor. Easily distracted I guess! Havn't even checked yet, so I'll do it later.

Merlin, while you're right about the static chip itself, there are some parameter options for P13 code that can be changed in Crome using a plugin. It can change VTEC crossovers, IAB openings, rev limits, and other bits and pieces. I've just not really used it.

I don't know if the Spoon chip is the same code and whether this plugin can change it or whether its for the OEM OKI chip in our P13 ECUs. There are a million 'chips' out there on ebay and they have all sorts of parameter changes, which I can only imagine is using the Crome P13 Plugin. But they're changing stuff that you shouldn't change as its a part of the fuel and ignition maps. So like I said, I'll let you know bud.

Secondly, fitting the chip. I don't fit them, don't have the skill for it I'm afraid. I would highly recommend bluejackhustler - his work is exceptional. As for trusting anyone local, you should be able to put your faith into someone that repairs electronic items, but I even had an ECU wrecked from a local TV Repair shop, so it is a gamble.
