Bloody hell! Never heard of anyone damaging their engine with fuel system cleaner.

Everything in moderation I guess.

All fuels come with detergent in these days, even supermarket fuels (well, certainly most of them).

I assume Redex is something like Benzine though, which more effectively burns carbonised crap off that the detergents don't shift?

I've had some at home for a couple of years but not used it... Suppose I better had get on with it really! Porka first I think  even Lisa's enjoyed getting the back end in it out a bit recently

And yep, using these things too often could certainly be bad news. They'll do things like temporarily reduce the lubrication properties that you get with the standard fluids, change the combustion temperatures etc. and dislodging old crap inside and engine can in itself be bad news :( The latter is why I've always been very dubious about oil flushing an engine.

It was carrisma or prelude_h22 I think - I prodded in the original post and they updated on how they'd found the car since.

You said you liked organic chemistry wurly ;) our survey says... depending on country/year you're looking at polyether amine. So rep for knowing your stuff. The booster chems if you're bored ;) :

Looks like stickmen fighting. You should animate them and become a youtube hit.
