NSX Rear Calipers

Post by NafemanNathan » Sun Nov 24, 2013 8:19 pm

I may have invested in a full big brake set for my project build, so I now have these rather special NSX rear calipers surplus to requirement...

Shame really as I was quite excited about getting them fitted, but hey ho ;)

As you can see the paint is a bit shabby. A previous owner has blatantly repainted them, but I assume they didn't use a worthy paint as it's all blistered up with the heat. Either that, or brake fluid has eaten away at it. Either way it looks like it will all come off easily to re-paint them which is what I planned to do anyway. Other than the paint they are in great condition.

Also had I been keeping them I would have invested in THIS which will do both calipers.

Now before anyone asks, I'm afraid I never got around to working out what's required to fit these. For all I know they could be a direct bolt-on... But I highly doubt it  They do also have a handbrake cable attachment, for MOT purposes.

Anyway, the last time I saw a set of these on ebay (They don't come up often) the seller was asking for £200 each side. I'm just asking for £150 plus postage though ;)

I like these a lot...

Would like to know how much is required in order to fit them, though.

I do recon it'd be a straight forward adapter. They do look very similar to standard Prelude ones. It's obviously all dependant on what size disc you'd wish to use as well though. Then dependant on the offset of the disc you wish to use to. Quite a few variables, but I was confident I'd get them to work easily enough... As I wanted them work ;-)

I would buy these if I had bigger front brakes. Whoever buys these remember that the NSX uses the same diameter disk front and back, the Prelude doesn't ;)

Edit: revise my statement, from 97 onwards the discs were increased to 298 front and 303 rear ;)

My set up will use the toyota avensis disc at 291mm but I would expect these calipers to use a bigger brake pad?

Think I've got this right.

Prelude pad 89x45mm
Nsx pad 111x57mm

That's a big difference, I'd give anything for a increase like that ;)
