Crush washers replaced, fuel leak gone

Now the big question, do I fire it up on the driveway considering that the downpipe & exhaust aren't fitted currently. Or to rephrase that, how much do I want my neighbours to hate me

I drove 2 miles to an exhaust place with just the mani and downpipe. You get this awesome metallic buzzy racecar noise around 3-3.5k revs and it sounds awesome! Do it.

I've been so jobby at updating this The car is back together again (largely), has been since Saturday



Fired it up on the axle stands before I refitted the wheels, holy jobby was it loud with no exhaust anyway the new clutch seems to be biting so happy days.

Next on the list is sort out the downpipe so that I can run the car for enough time to check the clutch is good to drive on. I have a few mystery bolts to figure out as well other than that I just need new ps fluid, aux belts, to refurb the rear brakes and to deal with the rusty sills and I should be at a point where I can present it for its MOT I just wish the weather would sort itself out, I'm not very motivated this time of year

Today I reconnected the exhaust, charged the battery and started her up... I'm pleased to report that the car can now be driven under its own power

Just need to refurb the rear brakes, and get the flexi sorted then I think I'm there really. I replaced the power steering belt today, topped up the fluid and then bled the system so that's all sorted now. My main worry is the body work, she's very rusty and I'm concerned there'll be a lot of welding required Only one way to find out though, and if it's got to be done it's got to be done - It will just push back my 'on the road' date is all.

Oh, and in other news the car is pissing in water from everywhere it would seem There's so much water that I don't really know where to start tracking leaks down It's in the house now though so it'll have a chance to dry out from the central heating, then I can replace seals and gaskets to my heart's content I guess.

But yeah the garage is part of the house, so what I meant was it gets to the same temp/humidity as the house provided I leave the door open. It dried the golf out quite nicely

I've got a mate who can weld it up for the MOT, but even at mates rates it will probs be a hundred at least. Plus if won't look amazing. It really needs to go to a body shop... The whole body needs attention though so that'll cost a fortune
