Not hating 17s on 3rds in general. As I've commented many times to Sam in the past, the rims on yours look fantastic crunchy. I just reckon that for the style Nafe's suggested, 16s would look better.
I might be wrong, cause it's all subjective of course and opinions and arseholes and all that... But meh, that was my opinion on that question.

205/45 R17 - just fine.

205/40 R17 - I could understand the problem.

I have the former. And I feel sure you could easily fit a set of 205/50 R17's on if you really wanted. Plenty of space. That would definitely remedy any perceived comfort issues. :)

But hey, each to their own innit. Up to the Nafeman at the end of the day. ;)

17s on a 3rd gen look massive and ridiculous IMO of course.
The arch to bonnet line is so narrow and large wheels looks wierd.
16"s look perfect.

Maybe that's the difference between a light coloured 3rd gen with light coloured wheels and a dark coloured 3rd gen with dark wheels? (the white of Crunchy's makes the arch to bonnet look bigger, whereas on the black one pictured that bit of the bodywork gets lost/looks smaller?) :?

Also I'm wanting to stick to standard overall diameter, so with that in mind, if I did want to run 17's I'd have to run either 205/35r17 or 195/35r17 and that definitely ain't gonna happen ;-)

The guy's being a bit rubbish getting back to me at the minute anyway. I've asked him about courier costs twice now which he's said both times he'll sort, and also he's unsure so checking whether he has the centre caps or not. Either way I've found a second company on ebay selling the set with centre caps for the same price

I'm just going to wait to see if he's got the caps and then haggle the price either way.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan. You've always got the other ones to fall back on if he doesn't give you the price you want. ;)
