New clutch/release bearing fitted roughly 200-300 quid. DIY is good practise if you don't rely on yer motor to get to work. It's good practise

If so possibly early sounds of clutch failure, but does sound like poss synchro related or even fork. Best thing to do is take it to a clutch centre get them to whip the box off and diagnose, that way you can plan round your commitments

Not causing argument but would bad seals in either cylinder cause lack of pressure regardless of gear selected?

I know what your saying about fine going into 5th, it's a tricky one to diagnose online. Best of taking to nearest shop. Only downside is labours a biatch

not enough travel in the clutch which i have found more noticable in reverse, and i am not arguing just i would rather be looking at the simpler, more likely, and cheaper options for repair first before condemning the box or even having it removed.Stevelar_granolar wrote:Not causing argument but would bad seals in either cylinder cause lack of pressure regardless of gear selected?
i have to admit the first thing that sprang to my mind was a selector fork issue that normally affects atrs
