you cant compare insurance quotes between different people who live in different places with different cars  there are so many variables

...yeah, hence my 'apples to oranges' statement...

Basically, a quote of a grand for car insurance is horrifying to me so I thought I'd show off how cheap my insurance is.

My dad had a young girl come in with a 1 litre Corsa - she's paying £1500 for her insurance (third party fire & theft)

I'm paying £430 this year for my Legnum (I'm 29, 8 years NCB, 15k miles, business use, plus my GF & mum insured to drive it).

Sky's renewal came in at about £700 (paid about £600 last year) - but after making a couple of calls, I got the quote of £430 and Sky matched it.

Lesson here - NEVER accept your renewal price, always phone around and get other quotes.

whut?

I think you got a wire crossed there. type S is 2.2 (2195cc) same as all the others. Why would that even come up? and where did you hear that? I am intrigued..

All H22A's are 2157cc - so 2162c or 2195cc are both incorrect, anyway!

And, the information held by the DVLA on imports is typically what is provided to them when it's imported - and is very often wrong or simply incomplete. Getting the DVLA to change this information to the correct information is, well, almost impossible, too :)

I cant believe this post is still going on. ring a propper insurance company, not none of these monkeys that insure cars for peanuts then sting you for excess charges, one that will look at an import, and one that has half a brain. It does limit you're options down. You have a few companys that post on here. I personally have had no issues with adrian flux yet with my insurance and they were dirty cheap. Make sure you ask for the red department if its modified as well as an import, they looked after me pretty well.

Next year im going to try sky and another that posts on here quite often. See if they can beat my renewal.

Surely you just fil in the correct details on the amendments section of the v5, send it off to them and they'll issue a new v5 with those details on it?

When I went to insure my lude one insurance company had it down as a 2.3 import :S when its actully a uk 2.2 vtec, got it insured for 1250 on my own name, 0YNCB, which isnt to bad considering my mate paid 3000 for a 1.1 corsa and its only dropped to 850 with 2YNCB, so i was quite happy with mine :P Oh yeah I'm with Elephant might be worth a shout. :)
