Petrol Pump Miss-hap

Post by toadster » Fri Sep 20, 2013 3:35 pm

LO All :D

Was filling up with fuel a couple of days ago , looking at the amount of fuel going in on the pump display , it went past £60 mark which i thought was a bit more than normal :? looked around to my filler and it was gushing out and down the side of my car

I think i prob wasted quite a bit of fuel judging by the amount on the floor :( , anyone else had a pump not cut out :?: first time it's happened to me

Cheers ;)

Nope.
But I did once put half a tank of U/L into a work van before I realised...

 topped up the rest with diesel and it seemed to love it though

What did the garage person say when you told them the pump was fooked?

EDIT: Normally I find it's the other way round with pumps and they cut out too early, damn things

Had that on my old Metro, in fairness to the pump, the petrol was gushing out of a rotten breather pipe - not the filler neck

Sounds very annoying though, given how expensive fuel is already :x

Nope, but when I had the tank reskinned they forgot to reattach the filler pipe so I just about £40 worth of petrol straight onto the floor

I probably wuld have noticed sooner but the tanker was in so the smell of petrol was already alot stronger than usual.

Was it the wet feet that gave it away in the end?

Perhaps they should have a box for welly boots next to the glove section?
