Clutch Failure

Post by Thebusofwoe » Wed Sep 18, 2013 10:31 pm

Well a ictdi Accord Tourer came in yesterday with the standard loss of drive. Seem to be a lot of ictdi clutches failing you see. So we continue to strip down to replace the clutch and come across this . . . . . . . . .

  :o :o

This is the best clutch failure I have seen in the 8 years of doing this job. Needless to say that it got sooo hot through slipping that it melted the friction material, welded itself to the flywheel and broke apart. Also badly cooked the dual mass flywheel. Was a damn mess lol
Thought id share that with you all as it amazed me!!!

That's a nasty failure for a road car!
I assume it's a warranty job?

i doubt it is wurly clutches are normally classed as a non warranty item as it depends on drivers skills

you dont say  what kind of evil do you have to do to make that happen?

A perfect case of maintenance and good practice increase mean time to failure.
