I haven't seen an aftermarket oil pump but I have seen an aftermarket oil pump gear. I presume it provides a faster flow. For the life of me I can't remember who does it.

I've just had a quick look and I don't think they alter the flow or pressure. I think they are just stronger. Both prodrive and circuitworx make them :)

Lil update on the problem of low oil presure and no vtec.
Decide to drop the oil, check the strainer and oil filter before i went balls deep into buying a oil pump from honda (ass rapers) and found the the strainer was clogged so badly with sediment and jobby that on removal the tude was still full of oil lmao. It had a small nail init to add to weirdness also, WTF...Anyways the oil was clean no metal so changed that for lovely new mobile 1 ow40 fs and the filter for a hamp jobbie! Started her up fine and let her get up to temp before going anywhere now oil light. Result. Test drive time. Down the road to clapham bypass vtec ingadged fine in second but in third it felt really weak. Put it down to new spoon ecu learing that it has vtec again. 3rd again felt jobby so pulled of and straight away when slowwing down i could hear a small knocking noise ( poo running down my leg at this moment) pootalled home crying. No warning lights on dash!!! Qestion about that below lol

Other than bearings and bottom end issues any ideas???

Also @bristol_bb4 does this spoon ecu disable knock sensors?
Thanks. Sob, sob

Hopefully that's a result on the strainer then, though if it's been like that for a while, the oil starvation might have caused some damage even without metal fragments being evident in the oil :(

First simple thing to check is the bottom pulley?
Otherwise, where does the knocking sound like it's coming from? Top or bottom? One side or end of the engine, or consistent throughout?
