Thanks mate, hoping it goes through. Switching my insurance over from the Civic to the Prelude on Wednesday as it's my renewal date. So need it to go through otherwise I'm gonna be cycling around until it's on the road!bb1boy wrote:6 hours??! Good on ya for your determination!
Fingers crossed for your MOT mate. I hate that time of year.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Re: BrazierS' BB6 Prelude SiR
So, it went through the MOT fine!
Headlights were misaligned but were corrected and it went through, only advisories being slight brake binding (probably due to new discs and pads all round) and front ARB drop links, which I will replace in the near future.
Some of you may have read the problem I had afterwards with no VTEC engagement, but this turned out to be an issue with the HKS Speed Limit Defencer sending a dodgy signal to the VSS, so I ripped out the HKS for now and so far so good, no issues.
So it's now on the road, and pulling like a train, happy for now! Just need a radio of some sort to make my 45 minute commute to work enjoyable haha!
On the update side of things, I went and got some new tools and underseal equipment for doing that at some point soon, weather has taken a turn for the worse at the moment so haven't had a chance to get out there and do it.
Last night, I treated the car to a new exhaust and bought a nearly new Spoon Street Muffler. It's not a Prelude specific one as I don't believe they ever made one, but I will be having the piping and hangers fabricated to fit, alongside a custom B-Pipe from the CAT.

I've about 3 cans of Bitumastic Underseal Spray for the underside, going to do the rear floor and arches/sills before I do the front as the front is generally quite clean. Got some new Dremel attachments to remove rust in tough places on the underside and inside the arches from inside the car. Bought a big tub of Kurust to turn any surface rust I can't get to into a stable material so it won't spread, Couple of Waxoyl spray tins for the inner arches and inner sills and some crappy paint brushes to ruin with underseal applying.BMCC wrote:Good job on the MOT. What underseal equipment did you buy?
Yeah I was a little worried at how far it may sit in, but I'm not too fussed. I may cut away some of the bumper/lip (nothing you can see) to have it sit out slightly further.RattyMcClelland wrote:Same exhaust I used to have. Sit quite far into the bumper.

Re: BrazierS' BB6 Prelude SiR
Finally got around to attempting to fix my Audio Harness tonight.
Bit of background on it, when I bought the car, it had a Sony Headunit it in, which worked, but was as old as the sun, had no Aux input, not USB etc.
It also had an original Gathers CD/EQ in place, which wasn't connected as the Gathers Headunit had been removed at some point in the past.
Once I took both out, I was treated to a lovely nest of hardwiring that a previous owner had done.
Rather than use an adapter harness, the Sony Headunit had been hardwired in, with the OEM Audio Plug cut virtually cut off but still in place.
Me being me, wanted to go back to an OEM wiring setup. So I ripped everything out that had been added ready to start from scratch.
I ordered myself a Honda > ISO adapter harness, with the intention of wiring it into the OEM Harness, replacing the Honda Plug, as the wires had been cut so close to the plug there was no saving the Plug.
After doing this, plugging in my new Sony Headunit, I had nothing. No power to the headunit.
So I thought it was the traditional Red/Yellow Wire switchover.
Did this, start up noise, no lights, no sound, unit doesnt switch on, but obviously has power there.
Bunched the Reds and Yellow together and tried again. Unit comes on, lights up, I have sound.
But, turn ignition off, turn back on, presets have gone, clock has reset. So no memory is being stored in the unit.
Which means that the constant 12V power wire isn't bringing power from the battery.
So somehow, I'm going to have to run a constant feed from the battery to the headunit seperate to the harness.
PITA. It got dark as I started to figure it out tonight, so hopefully I can get it sorted tomorrow.
It's insanely boring having no music on a 45 minute commute!

Re: BrazierS' BB6 Prelude SiR
Bit of update time...
Fixed my audio situation.
Turned out I was right, the constant power had died somewhere in the loom so the headunit wasn't being fed a constant feed.
Wired up a new constant straight from the fuse box, with an inline fuse behind the headunit. Now all works fine, soldered the loom back together so is all neat and tidy now.
Exterior wise, I noticed a blemish on one of my rear arches. Took it to the bodyshop and its moisture behind the paint in the filler. I said I wasn't happy with it, they said drop it off tonight and they'll sort it no problem. So that's that!
Also, bought some Motegi SideSkirts from @A1ex today. Will get them painted up and on the car when I can source a rear lip and the front lip that I want!
Back to the audio, I managed to find a Genuine Honda Audio Pocket to fill the gap in the dash, so when that arrives that can go in.
And on a bigger scale, should soon have my EP fully up for sale as I've been parting it out and putting it back to standard. Which means freeing up money for bigger and better parts!
