RoboCop
I really hope they don't ruin this one. I'm not optimistic though.
I predict....heavy CGI use, slo mo bullet at some point in the film, none too obvious product placement, and unrealistic cheesy happy ending.
Hold on, I just described 90% of films in the last 10 years.
I really don't get the fascination with remaking films, most of which don't need it.
Oh, and for the record, the Total recall remake was abysmal. It had so little in common with the original, I don't even consider it a remake. It was just utter bum droppings.
I watched it on pirate, and still felt cheated.

Perhaps a film where a speculum comes to life?Donald wrote:I eagerly await the day it's the norm to see every vaginal crevice in full Odeon glory.

sounds like a soft hearted 2000teen's fuckaduck cuntfest more and more. The current facination with rehashing old films is simply one of money imho. they know a film made XX amount in 1989 and there is a new generation of film goers available so the same film will make XX this time round. Safe yet ever so unoriginal. They know that a rehash film made for 120M$ will gross 230M$ where as a new idea film might not be well recieved and no film company can afford a flop right now.
A shame but at least we get some films
drokk knows what they are gonna do in 25 years time when the world is in another recession
Wizard of oz 6th time over and 3D hologram projection 'Treasure island' probably

A shame but at least we get some films

DREDD wasn't a remake, it was how the film should have been in the first place. The Stallone movie was an abortion, anyone who had any idea about the original material would tell you it should never have happened.
The Raid: Redemption is very similar, but actually started production after DREDD was finished. If anything, The Raid nicked storyline from DREDD, but to be honest, I reckon it was just coincidence they were so close in terms of plot.

I prefer DREDD I think, with everything taken into account, it seems to be much better flowing than The Raid - which just felt like a non stop fight scene with a cameraman there who has no idea what personal space is. I did enjoy it, but when it came to spending money, I only bought DREDD.

The best bit about DREDD was the fact he left his helmet on.
I always liked the old stalone film but never took it as 'based on the comics' tbh. just a cracking romp through explosion land
the new one was pretty dry in comparison and shows the differing availability of funds for films nowadays i think. Good film though.

I agree with you Indy, Stallon'es Dredd was a bit of a joke, so I guess 2012's Dredd was more of a franchise reboot rather than a movie remake (i.e. the new Total Recall was a remake and the new Superman (Man of Steel) was another reboot) I sometimes like films that aren't all Hollywood and huge budgets (Hobo with a Shotgun, anyone?) like The Raid and District 13.
