6 month old thread revival (because I need tyres again)..

215 40 17

So much info.. I have narrowed my choice down to my Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, Maxxis MA Z1 and Uniroyal Rainsport 2 or 3. All can be bought for ~£100 each

The Maxxis have great reviews, not quite as good as the Rainsport 3's, but the Rainsports have a crappy looking, stone grabbing, tread pattern..

Anyone want to offer any advice?

It is inevitable that pick up off the road is high with the RainSports due to the massive grooves. I'd say that pick up is less with the RS3's. I have done a fair amount of driving with the RS3's now. I like them. Don't expect a stiff ride with them though, they are still a relatively soft side wall even with the XL ones. Grip is very good in all conditions though.

A horses for courses kinda thing then @Merlin. Thanks for the info. Down here in Cornwall the roads are atrocious so stiffer sidewalls may prove beneficial. I'm also running those really light Konig Hurry2's.. has anyone tried the Maxxis MA Z1's?
