Well gentlemen, after yesterday's blast down to Singapore ( on one of my covert pork-product-smuggling runs. Well, how else am I going to get my bacon and bangers for tea?) I am dead chuffed to share that as per your comments, the VTEC on the Blue Beast is all present and correct.
Yesterday, I had the guts (and a reasonably quiet highway on the way down) to nail it. Oh yes, I felt it, I really did. The note does change ever so slightly but it's that strange feel from the engine that it has somehow come alive (as it were). It was a revelation. Absolutely brilliant and just to make sure she was being treated accordingly, I filled her up, there and back with Shell V-Power racing petrol. Maybe I'm talking out of my derrière, but the engine seemed to like the stuff and certainly responded like the proverbial bat out of hell once I floored it. What a majestic drive!
Just wanted to share the great news with you guys - thanks once again. Can't wait for another excuse to go to jolly old Singapore now. Better eat me bangers quick and then that's all the reason I need.

BTW - I'm a great fan of Se7en. Brilliant stuff. Spacey as his scary/nutter/psycho best.
Best line? Here's my fave: "Just because he's got a library card doesn't mean to say he's f*****g Yoda"

Hi Donald - Yeah, it is nice to go down there and just be in a city which is not as manic as KL. As I mentioned, the real reason for going there is to whizz into one of the better quality supermarkets there and stock up on essentials (bacon, bangers, ham, pork chops etc ) and smuggle them back into Malaysia. Always a bit nerve racking on the way back but one can generally rely on the snoozing customs officer on the Malaysian side to half-heartedly wave me through as he can't be bothered to get off his arse to look inside the boot and nab me, pork-handed!
The drive on Sunday was a real corker though, and I'm just so chuffed that I've discovered my V-Techness in all its glory.

I have so many questions about this pork smuggling but it sounds decidedly unsavoury

Surely that depends on the sauce you use?
