We fitted the 2nd hand alternator (supplied by JDM-BB4) last night and the car now runs fine 8-) Just in time for a track day on Saturday :D

No more bouncing idle!!

Post by Merlin » Fri Mar 09, 2012 12:33 pm

Ever since I have owned it, the car has had a bouncing idle. See thread about it:

http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/honda-p ... -t898.html

However after simply putting in another alternator the problems seems to be cured :? :D

I noticed the lack of bounching when I drove it in town this lunchtime, my drive to work in the morning doesnt have any stops so I didnt notice it. I have no idea how its sorted itself but I guess its a result :D Even though it doesnt settle straight away.

With my VTEC hesitation gone and the bouching stopped im only left with a knock sensor CEL to deal with

Re: Merlin's 4G Track Lude - Bouncing idle cured!?

Yeah its great although I almost had a problem. I got the alternator off JDM-BB4 and he threw in the alternator bracket as well. Just as well he did as the barrel that holds the main alternator bolt was stuck fast on my bracket. The barrel is meant to slide to one side to allow the removal/installation of the alternator. My one was goosed while the new one was still free moving 8-)

I doubt an alternator bracket is the easiest of things to find in central Scotland when you need it within 24 hours
