Nice to see this is coming along well Bri.
I'll come down and see it when I get the S2k back on the road.

Re: My new BB1 lude
It has been a while since I have posted anything up here about my lude, there have been a few changes but not as many as I would of liked. Money, moving house and having my appendix out have all held me back
All better now though and just got to catch up with a few bills before I can take this car to the level I am aiming for. Anyway heres an update on the stuff I have been able to do.
I got it running pretty good, although I think a brand new dizzy is on the cards.
I piddled about with the ignition timing so much on this now, this for some reason has been more difficult than on any other lude but I suspect its the dizzy and valve clearance's. Does go very well now though
Pics of body work I have done so far.
I only took this one of the welding I think, there were three holes in total to weld up two on the arches and one on the sill.

bit of filler on top of the welded plates and rubbing down

That was as far as I got until I moved house and had an operation
yawn

Then I got my arse in gear and semi finished them for now and fitted my trusty old 18s.

A bit more work on them, they will get even more before I respray the whole car

There are a few small jobs to do on it soon and I will update with any progress. For now its looking better than it did and it should stop rotting.

Nice to see you about Bri. I hope you have recovered well. The Lude is looking good, are you keeping it the same colour?
Guess what my 12 month guarantee on my respray and rust repair expired 3 weeks ago and I have the same as your first picture coming back.
BTW thanks for the sunroof you sold me last year was finally fitted by Rob last week and it works and looks great!

I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Re: My new BB1 lude
Thanks Wurly, there is still a bit of fine fettling to do on them before I go ahead and put paint over them, I just used some galv spray to cover them for now as a temporary measure, I just noticed on of the patches I did needs a bit more filler taking off and shaping a bit better. I am confidant you will not be able to tell I have worked the arches once it has been finished. I will not settle for anything less than the best (apart from my welding skillz or lack of) but as long as the metal is there it didn't have to be pretty.wurlycorner wrote:Massive improvement, well done.
Obviously been busy with one thing and another!
Hope the appendix wasn't too painful
The appendix operation was a nightmare, long story but I went to hospital and got turned away at 4.30 in the morning after 4&1/2 hours waiting in A&E, they told me it was a water infection even after I told them I was in agony and I had been sick all day, went to docs a few hours later and I got sent straight to the surgical assessment ward, waited and waited 6 o'clock tea time the mrs rang hospital to see if I had been operated on =, they told me I had a phone call so I got up to answer the phone and then it must of ruptured because the pain was crippling, NEVER had that kind of pain in my life. I then had to beg for pain relief and finally got an operation at midnight, no sleep and no food for near on 40 hours. Not a great experience. So instead of keyhole surgery I ended up with open surgery and a 3 inch scar, I was more uncomfortable with the air stuck inside my chest but that's going now.
Hey Paul, Glad your sunroof is good mate, I hope you have cured your fish tank problems too. Always the same when you hope the warranty is still in, usually just expiredpaul bristol uk wrote:Nice to see you about Bri. I hope you have recovered well. I have recovered well now fully healed, I am luck I am a good healer. As for the lude thanks buddy, yes I will be keeping this silver purely because I may end up selling this one, not just that, it would take a lot of time to do a colour change and I wont get enough booth time to do that, I live to far away from work and my lude is my only transport so it would have to be a very fast turn around, I will do all the prep work here at home so I can just do the paintwork in one day. Shame really but I am getting to like the silver now anyway. I am not sure what will be happening with this lude, I do want another car as an every day car but I do want to have a lude as a toy/hobby thing, I am just finding a way to have cake and eat it. It may take a while yet, still on crap money after being on sick pay so got some bills to catch up on.
All is good though and I cant really complain, new house is sweet and a lot cheaper to heat and run, car is going well, my job is going well too and they actually treat me well and listen to me. Pay rise on the cards too a vast improvement of what I am on now. Things could be worse but then can always be better too. Thanks bud
