I think tyres like the Toyo T1R aren't good for a car as heavy as a Prelude. On a sub 1-ton shopping trolley, they're good, but the extra weight of a Prelude means the sidewalls are too soft, and will wear out too quickly.

Mines only just over the ton mark and there's not many cars these days that are under a ton. I've found toyo's really good on the track and the road on both my ludes but tyres also change depending on the driving style you do as well

On a previous thread th eguys reccomended the Neuton NT5000 - It gets some really good reviews

The prelude is indeed a heavy car and very tyre i have bought for it seems to soft - even with extra load.

The only tyre i have found to be the best so far is the ones it came with when i bought the car, they were:

Bridgestone RE04 in 205-45-R17. When on trakc it was a joy to drive. The walls on this tyre are very stiff and the prelude handled amazing.

SInce they they have worn out i have tried rainspports. Far to soft to push the car hard. More of a comfort tyre IMO. Currently got hankook v12 evo k110. Again tyre wall are fairly soft - its an improvement over the rainsports as i can push the car harder now but still far to soft.

The only downside to the bridgestones re04 is that they were really loud. With them having a very stiff sidewall the road noise just transders into the car. Awesome tyre though and may well be my next set after the hankooks

Intruiged about the Neutons though

Treadwear rating is worth considering when
choosing tyres as well

Yes, Dino let us know what they're like please.

Interested if you think they are good enough
for track work.
