Gen3 Fuel Tank Removal/Replacement?

I'm too fat to get under there!

Got to have some welding done mid September before the MOT, so I'll have a butchers when it's up in the air.

Waste of time imo. Just spray bilt HAMBER dynax ub with the lance over the top of the tank.

Remember Andy, what little silt that would have been in the tank will have just been pumped along the line and then picked up by the fuel filter. Almost so obvious it slipped my mind mentioning it the first time around

Well if you really think so. I might just fill up a jerry can then, put it in the boot (safe), run the the car empty till it cuts out, & replace the fuel filter.

Maybe that would be an effective way of cleaning it out.

Whilst the filter's off you could always put an air line on the fuel lines, or even down the filler neck and seal it before blasting air through it if you must.

Na, not if peeps don't think it's necessary.

I just want the best for my Lude that's all. So as I'm making improvements, and changing parts, it seems to make sense to me to make sure everything is working as it did when it left the showroom, or better; where possible.

This just means that I don't have to worry about any 'weak links' later on.

It is also an attempt to increase reliability, longevity, & performance as best as possible.

I want to do everything properly & thoroughly on this project you see. Otherwise it's not worth doing in my mind.

generally they rust from the outside in and if its a petrol tank it will more likely than not be as clean as a nuns chuffer but if its a diesel then they sludge up. if it aint broke don't fix it. is it diesel? no. so is it broken? no.

Fair do's. The general consensus does seem to be 'waste of time' situation, so I guess I'll just do a fuel filter change when the time comes.

Phil, will I need to be getting a 3rd Gen fuel filter or 4th? And will any of the fuel lines need changing? Most likely not I assume.
