To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

AC does not come on
Post by Merlin » Thu Jul 25, 2013 6:33 pm
The air conditioning in my 5th no longer works. It has only just stopped working. The light on the switch doesn not illuminate and there is no drop in revs when the button is pressed. I have checked the two fuses (one in the footwell and the other under the bonnet) that I think the service manual suggests but no joy.
Does any one have any bright ideas before I go through the trouble shooting guides?

the next thing to wonder is why?
not a direct question but a hypothetical one. did the gas loose pressure slowly and gradual to the point where the evaporator shuts down or a sudden loss like a stone in the cooling rad?
the only way to find out is a re-gas.

Any decent ac machine does a vac test before it will refill. If the leak is noticeable, it'll stop with a leak fault detected. Then comes the fun part trying to find the leak! I think they can force the machine to refill anyway and put some dye in (if the person operating it knows how to use it properly).

If the heator control panel is the same design as the 4th gen, and your green light doesn't come on with the a/c switch, then it could be the connections have failed (1 green connector to the pcb) which has about 16 pins to it. This develops dry joints and needs resoldering to restore switch function including the light.
I just pulled mine out, and all the joints were broken. I resoldered and the buttons all light up and work now.

BTW, my a/c button used to light up when there was no gas in the system, but the air/con didn't activate, so you might still have gas in your system but you cannot activate it through the switch.

My AC doesn't work either, leak somewhere so there's no gas. The button still lights up, revs drop and you can hear the AC pump (when switched on) in the engine bay.honda-hardy wrote:my old accord did this. the reason being coz it lost all of its gas,
Sounds to me as its an electrical issue.
