Someone's fitted an aftermarket blower in theirs for this reason, can't remember for sure who it was though... Mudgey's? Performanceautoworks lude racer?

You could keep a dehumidifying egg on the dash which should help prevent any moisture accumillating in the car

It was Rich. Merlin's been looking into it, and I too have briefly.

I researched it and found out what I wanted to do. I spec'd it up with parts from T7Design (Mudgey on the forum). It was getting pricey though. The setup I wanted was approaching £300. But it will be a lot lighter! I will have to get the stuff before the winter or I wont be driving it anywhere when it is cold.

Yeah I had a quick look on t7design but wondering weather I could getaway with having no heater a fan for a while ?
At least just for the summer

Yeah summer driving is no problem. My track lude hasnt had a blower for over a year. A bit of Rain-X anti fog on the inside of the windscreen is enough to keep a little moisture at bay

I looped off the interior heater pipes. One other thing is keep the heater control unit in place just now as that has the rear window demister button built into it

Get some 3/4" (19mm) hose before you start ripping bits out.

The service manual says that in order to remove the internal heater matrix you need to undo the heater hose clips on the engine side of the fire wall. With the engine in place and the car not on a ramp, these are very hard to get to. I didnt do this for that reason. I removed the dash and smashed up the heater matrix and removed it that way. Believe me you will need to properly smash it up to get it out. Try and not damage the copper pipes that come though the fire wall as you will need to trim these back and then use your new 3/4" hose to loop it off.

My quick and dirty loop:

The more elegant solution is to install a T7Design firewall fixing. I then added some rubber elbows to make this:

^^ This way the proper fixings are in place and you can more easily add a proper heater/blower system at a later date.

It is worth it IMO as you can junk this lot (I had previously removed all my AC bits as well):

cheers for that . Should make things a bit easier now knowing what I need to do . Did you weigh it all when you removed it all ?
