Re: Dan's TURBO BB4 poly engine mount

Post by ddoubledanny » Thu Jul 11, 2013 8:36 pm

Right I would like to say thank you to mart for giving me the mounts :) Fitted today was easy to do once the radiator was out the way, thought it was going to be harder as the manifold and turbo shizz being in the way of access to bolts but I managed it. Anyway some pics of the mount Oh there was one thing that was a pain but luckily I managed to pursuade my mate to use his oxygen and acetylene so we burned it out

Lol didn't manage to get a pic of the mount after removal

This is what was left

So I then cleaned it up real good with a wire brush on a drill used some nitromors to remove the paint :D

I used red high heat engine enamel paint and painted it this is the finished article

And the improvement with this mod is really good and to my surprise it didn't add any more vibrations :D
Next is the rear mount now ;)

So while its been nice I thought I would swap out the cheap ebay dump valve with my latest purchase a hks ssqv and all I can say is it sounds epic compared to the eBay one

And the other week I had the Lude in my mates garage to do some gaskets done some myself aswell
gaskets changed were
1.vtec solenoid
2. distributer o ring
3. rocker cover gasket inc small washers and spark plug gaskets
4.oil cooler o ring
5.skunk 2 cam end seal
so some more pics

Great work Dan. That Vtec solenoid looked pretty gunked up :?

+1 to that - that's properly gunked up :? Looks a bit mayonaisy? Is your oil still healthy?

Is that the energy suspension poly inserts you've fitted?

Thanks guys and yes it looked pretty gunked up but most of it was some sort of sealant some one had Bodged in there :?

My oil is fine Ian and it was a poly insert :D

:? That's what I was worried you'd say...
If I've understood the pics right, you burnt out all the old rubber from the mount? The poly inserts are meant to slide over the existing rubber inside the mount, not replace it :?
