Massive oil leak help
Me an mrs travelled all the way to mansfield to pick up bumper from do1jonnyt then back down to donington park ready for japfest 2 an had no problems at all but on way back today we pulled over into services to get drink when we found car was smoking like it was on fire from everywhere , i opened bonnet where more smoke was but cudnt see anything so looked underneath and theres oil pissing everwhere all over floor an exhaust . Now i cant see anything leaking on top of engine at all an cant make out where its coming from but to cut long story short i checked oil had half left so decided to drive at low revs 55mph all way home but now it doesnt leak so only does it high revs . Any ideas people

sounds like your oil cooler o ring - this is located behind your oil filter - if it leaks it drops onto the downpipe of the exhaust giving off a load of smoke. good news is its only a few quid from honda for the oring and should be a 10 minute job for a garage to do. Hopefully thats what it is

its is a job you can do yourself but it can be a bit tricky getting the o ring to stay in place - the oil filter sits ontop of the oil cooler - you will need a deep socket - cant remember the size (32mm?) remove the oil filter and drain the oil get the deep socket onto the bolt and the oil cooler will come off (no need to disconnect any pipes) - the oring will be underneath - take it out and fit the new one etc - easy job if you have a set of ramps at your work.

if its not that it could be the balance shaft oil seal which is a little harder to deal with

I think Ive got the same problem, I think its a common thing. If you get the part number let me know. Or.. @ddoubledannyhas a part number for me, just need to work out which one it is. They are around £3 from Honda, think thats cheap for a genuine Honda part!
