Yep I do this, I usually clingfilm the delicate electrical areas and don't directly blast what I'd call dodgy bits, normally I use a few choice irregular brushes and a couple of autoglym products, (the 2 meant for this sort of thing) engine cleaner & black plastic rejuvenation stuff, if you alternate between the scrubbing and the jet washing and make a morning of it you'll get proper good results.

I was thinking something like that to actually loosen the dirt and grease because rinsing. Would require less pressure as well which will always be a good thing.Vtecmec wrote:Snowfoam first?
That's much cheaper than I imagined Dan

Engine degreaser and power wash is what we do then apply a engine dressing to shine up all the plastics and clean all the metal work down. When I've done mine the only issue I've had was the power steering belt not liking it for a couple of minutes till it dried out. As long as you don't spray it directly near the spark plugs your normally ok. The French don't like water lol

We do around 100 engine bays a month haven't had any issues in the 5 years doing it. Only a clio misfiring just needed drying out and reset ecu all sorted. It was an old clio as well.
