basically it was a jobby engine that had been left standing for a long time!wurlycorner wrote:Glad you've got a plan and keeping it...
Do we get to hear the story of what things were wrong with that lump before it was put in? I'm intrigued to know.
to start off with compression was very poor and it had previously had a cambelt and waterpump replaced HORRENDOUSLY bad, when rich took the valve cover off he found that there was literally half a cambelt left, the water pump pulley had eaten the other half! that rectified with a new pump etc rich put my engine back together, starter her up and discovered an oil leak which turned out to be the cam seal behind the cambelt
so obviously im now ££££££££££ into this engine and just told rich to do what needed done to get me my car back.
collected the car and about 20 mins into the drive home it died and wouldnt start back up!
the balance shaft had seized up which sheared the teeth off the belt and made it jump off and hit the cam belt i believe?
anyway, got the car back to rich who re-timed it and just ran without the balance belt.
went and collected the car for a second time and almost straight away i knew it was gone, no vtec at all from the very begining of the drive home then about half way home the oil light started flickering at me, a few test drives later and the bottom end was knocking!
and that, is how you jizzle a few grand
