I haven't really looked in to it, but is the OS (Linux) stored on a little flash drive on it? May need a bit of work and a seriously cut down version of XP to run the CarPC frontends smoothly. Or are there any that already run on Linux?

That's right linux booting off an SD card. It won't run windows, but if you have a look on the forums, there are thousands of people with planned projects, it won't be too long until someone smart comes up with the goods.
