every time i park the pickup up for a couple of months it gets moisture in the dizzy cap and gives a little misfire now and then so yesterday i took the cap off and cleaned the dizzy up inside aswell as the cap with a bit of brake cleaner and then some good old WD40.

started the car today and heard one hell of a bang :o  :o  :o :?

im amazed the thing is still running

moral of this story is don't use brake cleaner or anything highly flammable inside your dizzy to clean it no matter how well you think you removed it before starting it there's going to be fumes left in there.

she's all done now  i left the brake cleaner evaporate for around an hour before i replaced the cap, and yeah yeah i know i should have known better but im astounded there was still fumes in there after that long and on a warm engine too. lesson learnt and it did just make me laugh. i have 4 complete spare engines so it hasn't cost me anything except a little time and she's faster than ever now on all 4 cylinders  :vtec: :D

crunchy don't worry it'l be fine
